Author of Barron’s New Marine Aquarium Handbook and Koi: A Complete Pet Owner’s Manual, George Blasiola is a prolific writer and specialist in fish biology. Formerly with the Steinhard Aquarium in San Francisco, Blasiola’s history boasts work with industry companies such as Kordon in Hayward, California and Wardley in Secaucus, New Jersey. Currently he is an owner and consultant at Aqua-Sphere Research.
This year at the Aquatic Experience, Blasiola will deliver his unique expertise in two noteworthy presentations. The first on Effective Approaches to Solving Common Fish Health Problems and the second on Improving Freshwater and Marine Fish Health Through Better Feeding Practices. Both discussions will contain pertinent information for everyone from the beginning hobbyist to the advanced retailers.
In his first seminar on fish related diseases, Blasiola says, “ Whether you’re a pet store owner or a novice aquarist, fish health problems can leave you baffled and frustrated. A basic understanding of the factors that initiate fish health problems is essential to every aquarist.” With a concentration on a preventative approach, Blasiola’s presentation will discuss ways to spot potential fish problems as well as solutions to common issues.
The second nutrition related seminar will focus on approaches to keeping aquarium fish healthy through balanced feedings. With more advanced coverage, the information will include the biochemistry utilization of nutrients by fish, optimal protein levels, and the different diets necessary for juvenile and adult fish.
