Oliver Lucanus moved from Germany to Canada in the late 1980s. His fascination with the natural world and the underwater life in particular have led him to visit diverse habitats across different countries. His travels are showcased through a practice of photography that centers on displaying the fragile aquatic ecosystems that exist below the surfaces of water. For the last 18 years, he has been working on his most recent book “The Amazon Below Water”, showing South American fish habitats and their inhabitants in the most extensive book yet to date on the subject.
For his presentation at the Aquatic Experience Expo, Lucanus will present photography and video materials from his expeditions to the Rio Orinoco region of South America. He will highlight and share the spectacular views of unique aquatic habitat including the fish communities, predators, and special species that make up the Amazonian habitat.
