This year, the Aquatic Experience is thrilled to offer more than 61,000 square feet of saltwater and freshwater exhibits and displays. As part of our robust program offerings, we will be hosting numerous live interaction contests, including the Aquascaping Live Contest, North America’s biggest and most competitive live aquascaping competition with the biggest prize money!
This event is presented by the Aquatic Gardeners Association, an international nonprofit organization for beginning and experienced aquatic plant enthusiasts and hobbyists. It is sponsored by Fluval, an innovative aquarium technology company that focuses on charitable and educational efforts.
Aquascaping is the craft of arranging aquatic plants and other relative natural materials like driftwood, rocks, stones under water. Essentially, the practice is to forge an artful underwater landscape. There are technical elements to consider including creating a balanced aquarium tank that ensures the success of its inhabitants. These factors include filtration, support for photosynthesis, fertilization, substrate use, algae control, and lighting.
Judging will take place on the exhibit show floor with work-in-progress and the winning aquascapes available for perusal all two days of the exhibition.
If you’ve always been interested in this form of art, come by and talk with representatives from the Aquatic Gardeners Association, who will be on hand to answer any questions and promote the art and science of aquatic gardening!
